Back to the beach this week , all calm, no rants!
it’s interesting how much of the beach has relocated and is covering the promenade and how many stones there are actually on our beautiful sandy beach. I’m sure the council will fix all that before Boris says we can go out to play again . It was interesting to hear this week that beaches are very safe place no Covid has ever been found or seen on the beach. I guess we will be in for a very busy summer down in Torbay .
Last week I attended a very interesting two day seminar on Website Wizardry by Entrepreneurs Circle .I really love technology this was not really about the technology of web sites it was about how your website should be working for you these days because most of your customers will still check you out online . If you’ve got a really poor website it’s not really gonna work for you too well it .
It was interesting to see the how website design has changed over the years. I don’t remember tis as I’m not that old 😉 Back in the 1990s websites were very much designed for designers using all the technology that flash technology , HTML, XML then the 2000s it all became all about the search engines keyword stuffing do you remember those days where we wrote all the keywords in the same colour as the website background just so Google and all the search engines could pick it up.
Then of course they got wise to that and the 2010s the sites were designed really for companies ,the quirky navigation or the fancy stuff just to get you attracted. Now in the 2020s it’s very much customer eccentric. Your website isn’t about you it’s about your customer.
Your website should be telling your customer why they should be there when you land on the website. What would you want the customers to do when they get there, do you want them to make a purchase ,do you want them to book a call. All these things should be defined when you’re actually building your website, who is it for ,what do you do ,why should I as the client ,as the visitor to your website ,why should I care what you do . What do you want me to do next.
If you get this wrong, then they are gone you’ve lost them.
