During the Entrepreneurs Convention 2023, the Nigel Botterill touched upon the 8 characteristics of successful entrepreneurs. The second characteristics was the ability to communication – the essence of moving individuals, driving them towards your vision, to move other people to do what you want them to do. This week, I’ve witnessed the catastrophic consequences of miscommunication amongst business owners. A poignant reminder of the significance of articulating one’s vision effectively.
However, what truly struck a chord with me, and admittedly, a point both Sally and I have lately overlooked is this: “You are the sum of the five people you associate with most.” Ponder for a moment – if you calculate the average yearly earnings of these five individuals, that sum, divided by five, might very well mirror your own income. So, begs the question, who’s in your inner circle?
Are you the proverbial “big fish in a small pond”? Or do you find yourself challenged, inspired, and invigorated by the company you keep? Are you consciously choosing to be surrounded by individuals who have achieved more than you?
Consider the business networking groups you’re part of. Are they composed of dynamic enterprises, brimming with innovation and growth? Or, do they primarily consist of friendly faces behind stagnant businesses – well-meaning, but lacking the ambition to truly push you beyond your boundaries?
Now, this brings me to the role of a business coach. The reasons you ought to have one, and the manifold ways they can revolutionise your business, is a topic for another day. Today, the focus is on who your coach should be. Do you envision a coach whose earnings far surpass yours, offering guidance derived from their own success stories? Or are you content with someone on a parallel level, who, whilst comforting, may simply commiserate about the challenges faced by small businesses?
Ask yourself: is it more probable that a £25 per session coach can offer the same insight and value as one that commands £12,000 annually? Your returns are often a direct reflection of your investments.
So, I urge you, if you’re genuinely committed to business growth, book a call with us today.
