Happy New Year to you all. I hope you had a nice, peaceful and restful Christmas and saw in the New Year in safety.
One of my friends contacted me over the Christmas period and said, “Why is your blog still called Observations from the Beach? Surely, it’s too cold to be walking down the beach right now. Should it be called “Observations from a Log Fire.” In Devon it’s not that cold, or not cold as some parts of the country, but I find it very invigorating to go for a nice walk with a sea breeze on my cheeks. I find it clears my mind and that lets the thought process drift freely and open up to new ideas and plans.
One of the things that the Cope family love to do over the Christmas period is watch old films. Watching one of these old films over the holiday period it struck me how language changes so much over the years and how words that meant one thing back in the distant past suddenly mean something completely different now.
And then I start to think, well, what words are like that right now? One of the words that’s come to mind was the word positive. The last thing you want to be called right now is positive, don’t you? How funny is it that a word that meant such a really nice thing to be, now it’s kind of really not something you want to be as it relates to being tested positive for Covid
Another word would be 2020. 20/20 vision, who wants 2020 vision? Who wants to be able to see things as crystal clear as what we have done in this world last year?
So then that leads me on to thinking about when you’re sending out messages for your business , via your email content, your website, Facebook etc. What messages are you putting out?
Are you using the right words?
Are you using the words that your customer speaks in?
Are you using their language?
Are you using it in a way that they understand?
Because remember, you’re not writing for you, you’re writing for your customer. You want to get your message across to them. So are you using the language that they speak?
If you are feeling a bit lost now , Entrepreneurs Circle are running a 90 minute.
